As most of you probably don’t know, I don’t have cable at my place. Giant TV, yes! Cable, NO! 99% of the time it has not been a problem. I don’t really watch that much TV and only having 5 channels actually helps to reign me in because I’m a notorious clicker and can easily go through 300 channels without stopping. When I do want to watch something, we have apple TV and Netflix so I have access to more than enough random programming to keep me occupied.
Over the past few weeks, I have been feeling the effects of my personal cable squeeze more and more. The Tour de France is all over Versus Network and they do a tremendous job with the coverage. But I don’t have the Versus Network! At least when the NHL was only on Versus and I had cable, it was like a fun scavenger hunt to find pro hockey on TV. Now I know it’s not there and it’s getting on my nerves.
I get 3 weeks a year to care about cycling and bring it up in pseudo-casual conversation without getting heckled out of a room. Now I have to scour the internet for clips and commentary and still don’t know what’s going on. Between work, research and life I’ve lost touch with the Tour!
Did anyone buy the all access package for online and mobile coverage? If life keeps up like this over the years I might have to save up in June and pony up the $25 for my coverage!
